Frank E. Schoonover Catalogue Raisonné

Frank Earle Schoonover (1877-1972) was one of America's premier illustrators during the fabled Golden Age of Illustration.  One of Howard Pyle's original students in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, Schoonover went on to enjoy a commercial and fine art career, and spent the years from 1942 until 1968 teaching the Brandywine Art tradition to hundreds of eager students.

The Frank E. Schoonover Fund, Inc. has been collecting Schoonover's approximately 2500 paintings in order to compile a catalogue raisonné of the artist, and should have the two volume set published by year's end.  The catalogue is priced at $195.00, and includes Schoonover's work from early sketches through to his landscapes, which he devoted himself to solely beginning in 1937.

In conjunction with the publication of these books, the Delaware Art Museum is mounting Frank E. Schoonover:  An Artist for All Seasons, running from November 22, 2008 through February 1, 2009.  The exhibition will display paintings from private collections and the Schoonover Fund, and will be concurrent with a special display of the Delaware Art Museum's own permanent collection of Schoonover's art.
