The middle piece, the triple portrait, was from a workshop that Steven taught at SAFA back in '03 or '04. The model on the left is Sarah, at the time one of the top models working for the Academy. The model in the center was/is my instructor and mentor, Juliette Aristides, also a friend of Steven's. I had the privilege of watching this painting from start to finish. I was in awe. He spent quite a bit of time looking at the model, planning out each brush stroke, practicing it in the air, and then finally laying the stroke in. The result was a stunningly powerful portrait that came to life like a camera coming gradually into focus. A truly unforgettable experience. It still inspires me to this day.
