Heritage Auction House New York Preview

Texas-based Heritage Auction Galleries will be hosting a limited preview of several  upcoming auctions in New York City later this month.  These previews are wonderful opportunities to see original paintings grouped by a particular time period or genre, or in this case gathered by the tastes of a single collector, and which, other than in these previews, may never be on public display again.  Those interested in seeing the paintings in New York, will only have two days to do so, however, May 21-22, at the Ukrainian Institute (formerly the Fletcher-Sinclair Mansion), at 2 East 79th Street at 5th Avenue.  If you cannot make it to the preview, Heritage does provide excellent enlarged images on their auction site, which you can gain access to by clicking on the images in this post, then clicking on the "Look Closer" button.

It amazes me that work like this is so rarely seen mainstream.
The only art that you can find books on are the commonly known masters like Monet, Vermeer or Michaelangelo and such going back. I don't impune their work at all, in fact, I love their work but, who decides that the directions of other artists are not as worthy of study.
If not for this blog I would never have even seen their work.
Personally, I would love it if you researched some Russian masters. I found a video on Alexander Selytin on you tube once and his work is stunning.
Thanks again for the inspiration.
