I have already made plans to travel to Montreal to see the exhibit when it opens there this fall, but I wish I could visit the show in London as well. There are several paintings which will not be coming to North America, and I am saddened that those pieces weren't lent for the entire tour (The Lady of Shalott 1888, Hylas and the Nymphs, The Decameron, Diogenes, La Belle Dame Sans Merci, Ariadne, Windflowers, Echo and Narcissus, and Lamia 1905). I also wish The Orange Gatherers, The Charmer, any of the Ophelia paintings, and Thisbe were in the exhibit- basically, I want to see them all! However, I am happy to see that St. Cecilia has been included in the entire tour, when earlier reports said it would not be lent at all (the painting was sold last year, and it seems the new owner was more amenable to lending it for this retrospective).
J.W. Waterhouse: The Modern Pre-Raphaelite will be in London, England at the Royal Academy of Arts from June 23, 2009 - September 13, 2009, and in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts from October 1, 2009 - February 7, 2010.
The exhibition catalog is available from Amazon.com.
Many thanks to the site, www.johnwilliamwaterhouse.com, for providing this information.

oh thank you so VERY much for sharing this about the Waterhouse show and all the links.
I adore Waterhouse, he may be one of my very favorite painters!
This is a show I would Love to see!!!!!!!!!!! I wish the Lady of Shallot were there.
A lot of thanks for this lovely blog!! Very interesting to see good art, and things like show painting master's palette is a really interesting idea.
I saw this exhibition at the RA yesterday at the "friends" preview. It is stunning - do not miss it. The works in the London exhibition are beautifully displayed, and I was able to spend several hours there examining the paintings very closely.
Dave- I saw images from the show when it was in Holland. If the paintings are displayed in the same manner in London, as they were at the Groningen, then I am sure it was brilliant! I am so excited to see the exhibit when it reaches Montreal. I only wish all of the paintings were lent to each locale.
Matt
