Heritage Illustration Auction May 2010

The catalog for Heritage Auction Galleries' upcoming May Signature Illustration sale is now online, and, as always, it is a visual delight looking through all of the large, digital files for the lots on offer. This particular auction seems quite extensive and unusually diverse. Artists in the sale include pin-up greats like Gil Elvgren and Olivia; classic illustrators like Andrew Loomis, J.C. Leyendecker and Norman Rockwell; fantasy greats Chesley Bonestall, Frank Frazetta, and J. Allen St. John; TSR artists from the 1980's like Jeff Easley and Daniel R. Horne; contemporary fantasy/sci-fi illustrators like Tom Kidd, Darrell Sweet, James Gurney, and Michael Whelan; and the list just goes on and on. There is an especially large selection of Mort Künstler illustrations in this sale, too, as well as film props from Flash Gordon and Erik the Viking. The actual auction dates are May 6-7, and I must admit, several of the items were currently priced so low that I was sorely tempted to immediately place bids.

HA! I just had to throw in that pic of Lobo! It's one of my favorite pieces by Joe DeVito! I remember it from years back seeing it in Spectrum.
