This past Thursday, I had the pleasure of attending the Opening Night gala for Jeremy Lipking's current solo exhibition at Arcadia Gallery. Artists from across the continent were in attendance to show Lipking their support, and to see what this much-respected painter has been working on since his previous show in California, two years ago. Among those on hand were Thomas Nash of Georgia, who stayed an extra week after giving a workshop just to see the show; Gordon Wetmore of Tennessee, the Chairman of the Portrait Society of America; Floridians Edward Jonas, the Vice Chair of the Portrait Society of America, and his wife, Christine Egnoski, the Executive Director; Todd LaChance and his wife of Alberta, Canada; Alexandra Tyng and Garth Herrick, from the Philadelphia area; and relative locals, Kathy Anderson, Dorian and Liana Vallejo, Max Ginsburg, Brad Kunkle, Michael Klein, Timothy Jahn, Ryan Bradley, Jacob Collins, Edward Minoff, and Adam Miller. It was an incredible turnout filled with a tremendous amount of artistic talent.

Many thanks must be given to the members of Arcadia Gallery, Michael J. Ruple, Michael P. Sincavage, and Andy Smenos, for their hard work in preparing for the Opening, and especially to gallery owner, Steve Diamant, for hosting this event. Gatherings such as these have become mainly about the artists, and that the gallery graciously schedules these celebrations, and has also held several artist demos within their walls, is a testament to Arcadia's commitment to the creative field.

Arcadia Gallery is located at 51 Greene Street, between Grand and Broome Streets in SoHo. It is open 10 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday, and from 11 AM to 6 PM Saturday and Sunday.
The exhibit of Jeremy Lipking's paintings will be on view at Arcadia until Friday, June 25th. For those unable to visit the galley, Arcadia has posted images of all of the paintings in the show on their newly-designed website. To see more images from the Opening Night celebration visit the gallery's blog, where pictures will likely be posted soon. Catalogs are also available; contact the gallery for details 212.965.1387.
