Joseph Todorovitch Solo Show at Arcadia Gallery

Nymph and Satyr   24X32

I have mentioned Arcadia Fine Art Gallery in New York City in several of my previous posts.  It's roster of representational artists is exceptional, including such painters as Jeremy Lipking, Michael Klein, Brad Kunkle, Michael Grimaldi, Daniel Sprick, Daniel Adel, and Robert Liberace, and this makes it the gallery I most often frequent in the City.  On October 16th, Arcadia will be opening a solo show for another of its incredible young talents, Joseph Todorovitch, for whom this will be his first solo exhibition since gallery owner Steve Diamant brought him onboard over a year ago, and I am really looking forward to this event.

A thirty-two year old artist from Southern California, Todorovitch paints in a manner which reflects his quiet nature, and belies his young age.  His paintings are sensitive, and evoke an atmosphere of calm, and at times, melancholia, through their effective use of greyed color and closely observed tones.  These qualities, drawn from Todorovitch's admiration for the Naturalist painters of the late 19th century, have made of him, of all the many skilled realists emerging today, perhaps the best at creating believable, palpable environments in which his figures so comfortably reside.

Arcadia Gallery is located at 51 Greene Street, between Grand and Broome in SoHo.  It is open from 10 AM to 6 PM Monday through Friday, and from 11 AM until 5 PM weekends.  Joseph Todorovitch's solo exhibit opens October 16th and runs through October 28th.  There are 15 works by the artist scheduled to be on view.  To see more of his paintings, click here.
