Auction Preview: Heritage Illustration October Sale

Howard Chandler Christy
Nymphs in Summer

Heritage Auction House is holding its Signature Illustration Sale in New York City this October 23rd and 24th.  Many of the 904 lots in this sale are pin-ups and risqué Playboy Magazine cartoons, but mixed in are also other wonderful works from some of the most celebrated illustrators of the 20th century.  J.C. Leyendecker, Dean Cornwell, Tom Lovell, Charles Dana Gibson, Bob Peak, Andrew Loomis, Mead Scaeffer, Harry Anderson, Harvey Dunn, James Montgomery Flagg, Robert Maguire, Norman Rockwell, and Robert McGinnis, are among the artists represented in the sale.

Though the actual auction will take place in New York City at the Fletcher-Sinclair Mansion, the lots will be available for viewing not only in Manhattan, but also in Beverly Hills (Playboy lots only).  And of course, Heritage also has an online version of the catalog, which is one of the best available, with every lot available as a large image download.
