Just in time for the holidays, Joe Salamida has launched a website for his new mail-order business, Legacy Art Products. Currently, his online store only offers brushes, and just two lines at that, but both are quality handmade product lines from Rosemary & Co. of Great Britain.
The first style offered is Rosemary's Ivory synthetic brushes, which she describes as a fine imitation of a bristle brush, but whose "silky spring" does not leave the characteristic brush marks associated with the natural hair version. Rosemary designed these to be a "working tool for oil artists" - a brush that does not splay, keeps a good firm shape, can carry a good load of paint, and cleans out very well. It is a popular brush range which outsells its Chungking bristle counterparts by a ratio of 10:1.
The second style offered is Rosemary's Master's Choice Mongoose brushes, a natural-hair, brush line which has garnered fans throughout the United States. Mongoose hair offers a semi-firm stroke, which finishes velvety under a light touch. Its marks are distinctive, and the hairs are resilient and wear well. The Series 279 Long Flat is particularly popular, earning endorsements from Jeremy Lipking, Morgan Weistling, Tony Pro, and Richard Schmid,
To my knowledge, Legacy Art Products is currently the only American distributor for Rosemary & Co.'s brushes. At the current exchange rate, the brushes are slightly more expensive at Legacy, but the domestic shipping rate is cheaper than the cost of having small orders shipped here from overseas.
Legacy Art Products' shipping rates, based upon order totals, are as follows:
$0 - $50. = $6.50
$50. - $100. = $7.00
$100. - $200. = $10.00
$200. - $350. = 5% of total
above $350. - Please contact vendor.
Rosemary & Co. charges £7.00 to ship to the USA, no matter the order total.
To compare pricing, if one were to request three Series 279 Long Flat #4s from Leagcy, shipped to the USA, the cost of the order would be $35.75. Direct from Rosemary & Co. the same would currently total $39.24.
Salamida is also expecting to add handmade baltic birch palettes to the online store in the near future. Keep checking back at the Legacy Art Products site for new items.

I can highly recommend Rosemary’s brushes she runs a very efficient business with first class customer relations and the brushes are top quality.
Now if only they'd sell left-handed paint brushes.
It's about time I try these...so many artists love them. I'm guessing the quality is better than Langnickel's.
Jason - try turning the brush around...geesh ;-)

At the moment I use the Rosemary & Co mongoose a lot. I used to use nothing but the Ivory range and used them for a few years solid, then one day I tried one of her chungking hog bristles and switched back to using hogs for the broader passes. I find the synthetic Ivory a bit stiff compared to the natural hair.
Thank you Matthew I am trying out a set of Mongoose filberts.
